The Franchise Offering

As a Turtle Tots franchise, you will be awarded the rights to run your own franchise business for an initial five-year term, with no charges to renew for subsequent five-year terms. Territories are defined by postcode areas. Each territory has a population of around 400,000 people. Franchisees have exclusive rights to deliver Turtle Tots lessons within their territory.

In order to begin the process, you need to submit an initial inquiry. This will be followed by a telephone call and then either a meeting or a Zoom call, whichever is more convenient. You’ll then have the opportunity to meet a franchisee and discuss their experience running their own Turtle Tots business, after which you will undergo aquatic training. This is followed by research and preparation and then you are awarded your franchise. That’s it! You’re ready to begin.

You will employ a team of teachers, while their specially created online tools will allow you to effectively manage your lessons and customers.

The Cost

The initial investment starts at £13,000 plus VAT. However, those looking to build and manage a larger business can have access to bespoke packages. It is also recommended that you have sufficient working capital to sustain yourself for the first six to 12 months to help you grow quickly and not draw on your business.

Franchisees pay 8% of revenue on a monthly basis. There is also a small IT fee that includes the cost of the franchisor’s bespoke website and business management software.

The initial franchise agreement is for three years, and there is no fee to renew it at the end of each term.

Although it is difficult to accurately project your revenues because they will depend on the size of the customer base you build, established franchisees can expect to reach a turnover of more than £300,000 per annum within the first five years. This figure is not guaranteed and will solely depend on the efforts that you put in your business.

Training and Support

The Turtle Tots head office team will support you to set up and start your business. They will also help you develop your growth plans and guide you along on your journey. You will also benefit from the knowledge and experience of fellow franchisees who will mentor, support and cheer you on.

The brand will help you prepare your cashflow forecast and a comprehensive business plan, and guide you through the funding process including deciding on your business structure.

They will also leverage the existing relationships they have with national pool providers to ensure you have pool space to start with.

Also important is that all new franchisees complete comprehensive aquatic and business training programmes. The residential aquatic course explores the Turtle Tots programme in depth, and is a blended training course with pool time and training via Zoom.

Furthermore, you will receive two days of tailored business training, which will teach you about all key business functions, with a strong focus on marketing and sales.

The Turtle Tots head office team’s wealth of knowledge and experience will be used to support you. This is tailored to your individual needs based on regular two-way feedback and performance reviews.

You will also get help every step of the way including growing your teaching team, employing business support staff or building your own venue.

There is a strong focus on continued professional development.

Meanwhile, there is also the annual Franchisee Conference, where the franchisor shares their upcoming strategy, holds training workshops and brings in relevant speakers. This is also a great time to share best practice and experiences with other franchisees.

You will also have the opportunity to join the Franchise Advisory Council and franchisee working groups.
