About Southern Fried Chicken

With nearly 40 years of experience in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry, Southern Fried Chicken employs 10,000 people and uses 100% fresh chicken in all its offerings. If you’re interested in the QSR sector and you’d like to see quick returns on your investment, this opportunity is for you.

What They Offer

Southern Fried Chicken stands out for its quality chicken, which is prepared in a good, honest way, producing the best-tasting chicken every time. The succulent real fresh chicken that is used is marinated to give flavour. It is coated in breading made from a unique blend of herbs and spices and their exclusive Lemon Pepper Flavour, pressure-fried to perfection, gives a delicious product. The brand offers five flavours ranging from mild to wild. Their extensive menu includes real fresh chicken, succulent burgers, buckets and wraps, prepared in their signature fried method or grilled. The seasonings and packaging are purchased through SFC, ensuring uniformity worldwide.

The Franchise Offering

Southern Fried Chicken is a quick-service restaurant (QSR) franchise that offers its franchisees ongoing design, essential support, flexible local supply options and training.

Becoming a franchisee provides you the opportunity to join a globally recognised brand. You also become part of a community network and are granted access to tried and tested business systems, processes, products, training and support.

You can expect to see returns on your investment as quickly as within the first six months up to three years. And what’s more is that the average store turnover is £15,000 per week.

If you’re interested in this opportunity, the process involves an application, meeting, sourcing a location, finalising its design, installation (which is set up by the Services Team), training and opening.

Who Are They Looking For?

As a Southern Fried Chicken franchisee, you need to be a strong and committed person, who is driven to succeed and who wants to live by the brand’s values.

The Cost

As a starting point, it’s important to note that the franchise fee starts at £15,000 for a single franchise in the UK or Europe. Meanwhile, Master franchise fees start at £100,000 for smaller territories, although larger ones are available.

You have several options to choose from on your investment journey. You can start out with an Express/Kiosk style business with an area of between 25 sq/m and 40 sq/m required. The cost to build this is between £60,000 and £80,000.

The next option you have is to open a Food Court, with a required area of between 50 sq/m and 60 sq/m. The cost for this opportunity is between £120,000 and £180,000.

You can also establish a Restaurant offering with an approximate area of between 80 sq/m and 150 sq/m. This has an associated cost ranging between £175,000 and £250,000.

Finally, there is a Dive Thru option with a required area of between 150 sq/m and 250 sq/m with an associated cost to build of approximately £280,000 and £300,000.

As for expected returns on your investment, this will depend on the effort you put into your business. However, the parent company forecasts that franchisees can have a turnover of a minimum of £500,000 in their first year and take approximately £100,000 net profit from a well–run restaurant. Large prime sites can expect to achieve over £300,000 net profit on a turnover of £1.2 million.

The brand also charges a minimum monthly royalty fee of £650.00 with a percentage based on location and size of the restaurant.

In order to fund this type of business, you may need to approach a lender for your capital requirements. The good news is that most lenders look upon franchising as a highly profitable and much less risky investment than independent startups. As a result, you’re likely to secure up to 70% of the capital you need, but this will of course be based on the submission of a well-prepared business plan, an evaluation of your creditworthiness and your income levels.

Training and Support

You will be supported from the moment you sign your Franchise Agreement to your restaurant opening and more.

Offering comprehensive training to its franchisees, your training will last for a minimum of 21 days. During this time, you will learn more about how the Southern Fried Chicken processes work. This initial training is subdivided into different areas and will be held at the location for the first outlet. Second and subsequent outlets will require between seven and 10 days training by the brand’s trainers. You should note that the costs of time, travel, subsistence and accommodation are chargeable to you. The training is conducted by fully qualified personnel.

Support includes aspects such as site selection; outlet design; equipment sourcing and specification; pre-opening, opening and post-opening training; central supply of essential equipment, ingredients and packaging; local supply of fresh ingredients; opening and ongoing marketing advice and expertise; enforcement of strict brand standards for worldwide uniformity; continuous auditing (twice per year) and training of any needs highlighted in the audits; a phone line that is always available to help answer any question you may have; and more.

Support is also available for franchisees interested in opening multiple locations as a Master franchisee.
